Information providers, also called data furnishers, report information about consumers to consumer reporting agencies. Information providers include banks, lenders, finance companies, telecom and utilities providers, and many other types of organizations.

Debt buyers are companies that purchase old consumer debt, like credit card debt, personal loan debt, and auto loan debt. Debt buyers usually purchase debt at steep discounts then try to sue consumers for profit.

Finance Companies:

Finance companies generally are non-bank entities that issue loans to or service loans taken out by consumers. Finance companies are governed by consumer lending laws rather than banking laws. Finance agencies usually make personal loans and auto loans.
